Thorney 10K

As the entertainer Bruce Forsyth would say – “didn’t they do well”. It was perhaps the first time that the entry was closed on the day to runners who just thought that they would turn up and give it a go.

I think that this shows several things, one being how much the club has progressed over the last few years in terms of being able to attract runners from other clubs, regions and also those that wish to experience their first race. Some of this comes from the work that members give to the Great Eastern Run, and also to the fact that the club although small makes good use of technology by allowing online entries.

Together with the great organisation, and team work of those not racing but working behind the scenes, I think that we can proudly say that we do have one of the best local races around.

I have to say that on my marshalling point I ensured that everyone who went past got the same encouragement, whether they be at the very front, in the middle or at the back. In fact I know that the other marshals also ensured that this occurred, and as a runner it is always welcome when you get encouragement from those watching or marshalling.

Looking ahead, the club have two more races to organise, so hopefully those that marshalled last time will be able to run and those that ran can help with the marshalling. Seems fair doesn’t it.

 Club Championships

Soon the Langtoft 10K will be upon us, which of course is the 10k leg of the championships for the seniors, and looking at recent results there should be some very good competition for both men and women. In fact if there are team prizes I think that we could be within a shout of some silverware.

The juniors will be looking forward to their forthcoming races and again looking from the winter results there will be a good deal of competition.

For those who missed the last presentation evening here are a list of those who are the current club champions (does not include the hot 100 nor juniors) –
