A message from Keith in his Chair
Well who would have thought that 2007 was going to as good as it turned out to be, the club has gone from strength to strength in terms of numbers of members and this has seen some very good performances throughout the Frostbite League and a good team ethic with everyone trying to help others.
Congratulations must go to the junior members, with their performances they have not finished in the bottom place in the league; this I hope will spur them on for an even better season next time.
For the seniors, both the men and women who have represented the team have done themselves proud, and if its wasn’t for one strong meeting by PACTRAC then they would have avoided the wooden spoon. In fact they may have also taken third from bottom. So next season should be something, and hopefully one which will make the other teams look around for us.
My congratulations also go to Dave Bailey and the other helpers who put on the annual Prize giving evening, I must say that it was a most enjoyable evening and it was good to see so many of you there.
My congratulations must also go to all those that took part in a very successful Thorney 10K, there was at one point concerns over the number of marshals, but again the members rallied around and ensured that the event was a success. In fact it was that popular that we couldn’t accept entries on the day!!!
Looking ahead the early summer races will soon be upon us, so good luck to you all.
Frostbite 2007/2008
As reported in the last edition the team has grown in members and has seen some very good individual performances for the juniors, men and women members.
Other clubs have noticed that there are far more
Thorney runners at each race, and have been asking Keith where have you been
getting them from.
In terms of final league position, the seniors did win a trophy, ok it’s the wooden spoon, but at least we won something. Although when looking at the last three races the club didn’t finish bottom in any of the races, and in fact had a total of 60 individuals compete. At one stage we were disappointed when we didn’t make 25 for one of the races, makes you think when we couldn’t even get a team for some of the races in the previous season.
The juniors though were more successful finishing 11th, so with one more season under the belts of Frisby, Church, Harding and others the hope is that they will continue to enjoy the experience of racing and continue with their own running progression.
